Club Hut

 

The Mendip Nature Research Station at Wells Hill Bottom is a spacious purpose built centre situated on the B3135 Cheddar road, high on the Mendip Hills. It is within easy reach of the major Mendip caves, and of course the pubs. The station consists of a fully equipped kitchen, common/dining room, library, laboratory, ladies and gents toilets, hot showers/changing rooms, member and guest dormitories sleeping 13 and 15/6 respectively, extensive campsite and car park. Members may use the station at any time, but guests and associate members must book in advance.

Since the 2006 AGM the Mendip Nature Research Station has been non-smoking throughout.
Shelter is available against the elements for those who wish to smoke.


Common Room The common room is spacious with a central fire place and ample seating. There is a pay phone for visitors use.

Old HutThings have come a long way since The Old Hut. In 1980 it was decided that the old nissen hut which had been the base of the MNRC for a number of years was getting beyond repair. In 1981 the members set about building the New Station. The new Station has been built entirely by members of the MNRC.
